A STORY OF BROKEN CROCKERY - LA FACE CACHÉE ÉDITIONS

DESSIN CRAYONS DE COULEUR

A series of drawings initiated in June 2020 and completed in September 2022, A Story of Broken Crockery is a collection of 41 coloured pencil drawings of mixed subjects. Produced sporadically, these drawings transcribe an everyday life by freely representing scenes that are sometimes metaphorical and mysterious, sometimes grotesque and playful.

The series of drawings is published by éditions La Face Cachée, a publishing house launched for the occasion by Ardalan Yaghoubi. We co-published this project together, with the help of Magalie Brueder for the graphic design, Nicolas Fruhaüf for the colorimetric design, Chloë Fage for the French proofreading, Rena Kenović for the English proofreading,Manon Kiziboukoufor the outlining some of the silouhettes.

The drawings and the book were launched and exhibited from 20 April to 11 May 2023 at the Cahiers d'Art gallery located in the bookshop of the Palais de Tokyo. The installation, conceived and designed in collaboration with Samuel Jacques, is a mesh of steel rings produced, assembled and welded by hand in Romainville. The mesh is more than three metres long and more than one metre high.

A first part of the series of drawings was exhibited in April 2021 following a two-week residency at L'oasis d'Uzerche during the group exhibition "Exposissimo, episode 1: Welcome to the Villa Doudoune!
